How to delete your account
A McMuse account exists only if you chose Continue with Google in the app. It is what lets your credits follow you to a new phone. There are two ways to delete it.
In the app Fastest
- Open McMuse and go to Settings.
- Under Account, tap Delete account. The row appears while you are signed in with Google.
- Confirm. The dialog shows how many credits you will lose. Once you confirm, your account is deleted straight away, and the app carries on without an account.
By email, if McMuse is no longer installed
-
Email us from the Google address you signed in with.
Write to idatagear@gmail.com
with the subject line
McMuse account deletion requestand ask us to delete your McMuse account. Sending from that address is how we find your account and know the request is yours.
Email a deletion requestWe will never ask for your password.
- We delete your account within 30 days. We delete everything listed under What gets deleted and reply by email to confirm once it is done.
If you never signed in with Google, there is no account of yours for us to find. The app keeps an anonymous record on our server holding only a credit balance under a random identifier, and nothing in it identifies you.
What McMuse stores, and where
| Data | Where it is kept | When you delete your account |
|---|---|---|
| Your artworks, gallery, tags, and theme and language settings | Only on your phone | Not affected. Delete them in the app, or uninstall it (see below) |
| The photo you turn into art | Sent through our server to Google's Gemini to be rendered. We do not store it. | Nothing to delete: we never kept it |
| Your account: your Google email address, plus the display name and profile-photo link Google supplies, which the app does not read | Our server (Google Firebase Authentication) | Deleted |
| Credit record: your credit balance, whether starter credits were given, and a request counter used for rate limiting, under a random account ID | Our server (Google Cloud Firestore) | Deleted, with any credits left on it |
| Account links: records connecting your account to the phones you used it on | Our server (Google Cloud Firestore) | Deleted |
| Purchase records: a random account ID, Google Play's purchase token and order number, the credit pack bought and the credits granted. No name or email address. | Our server (Google Cloud Firestore) | Kept (see below) |
| Reports you made about an artwork: the artwork and style, the reason, any note you typed, and your account ID. Never the image. | Our server (Google Cloud Firestore) | Kept (see below) |
| Starter-credit record: a one-way hash of the identifier Google gives your Google account (not your email address) and when starter credits were given | Our server (Google Cloud Firestore) | Kept (see below) |
| Operating logs: your account ID, the style chosen, the size and cost of an artwork, and why a request failed or was refused. Never the photo or the artwork. | Google Cloud Logging | Expire on their own after 30 days |
What gets deleted
Deleting your account, in the app or by email, permanently deletes:
- your account, including its Google email address, display name and profile-photo link;
- your credit record, including any credits left on it. Credits cannot be restored;
- the records linking your account to the phones you used it on.
Deletion cannot be undone.
What is kept, and for how long
- Purchase records are our receipts, and they stop one purchase being redeemed twice. We keep them for as long as the law requires us to keep transaction records. They hold a random identifier and Google Play's purchase details, and no name or email address.
- Reports you made about an artwork are kept for as long as we need them to look for patterns of misuse.
- The starter-credit record is kept so that deleting an account and creating it again does not give starter credits twice. It holds a one-way hash of your Google account's identifier, not your email address, and the date.
- Operating logs expire on their own after 30 days.
- Google Play's own records of your purchases and payment are held by Google, not by us, under Google's Privacy Policy. We never receive your payment details.
Deleting the data on your phone
Your artworks are on your device, not in your account, so deleting your account does not touch them.
- One artwork at a time: open it in the gallery and delete it.
- Everything at once: uninstall McMuse. This removes its gallery, tags and settings from the phone.
- Copies you saved to your photo library are separate files. They stay there until you delete them in your photo library.
