Momera.Hiking (“the app”, “we”, “us”) is an offline-first hiking tracker for Android, published by [Developer / company name]. This policy explains what the app does — and does not do — with your data.
The short version
- The app has no account and no sign-up.
- We do not collect, transmit, or sell any personal data to ourselves or to any third party.
- Your hikes, GPS tracks, photos, videos, voice memos, and notes are stored only on your device.
- The app contains no advertising and no analytics/tracking SDKs.
Data the app uses (and where it stays)
| Data | Why | Where it goes |
|---|---|---|
| Precise & background location (GPS) | Record your hike route, show your position, follow a trail and warn you if you go off-route — including while the screen is locked. | Stored on your device only. Never sent to us. |
| Photos, videos, voice memos, notes | In-hike captures you choose to take, pinned to your route. | Stored in the app’s private storage on your device. |
| Step count (physical activity) | Show steps for a hike via the device pedometer. | Stored on your device only. |
| Camera & microphone | Take in-app photos/videos and record voice memos during a hike. The microphone is used only while you are capturing video or a voice memo. | Captured media is stored on your device only. |
The app does not access your device photo gallery or media library — captures are taken in-app and saved to the app’s own storage.
Network connections
The app works offline for tracking. It makes network requests only to:
- Map tiles — map imagery is fetched from OpenStreetMap or a tile source you configure in Settings. The map area you view is requested from that provider, as with any map app. See the OpenStreetMap Foundation privacy policy.
- Trail packs — curated trail data is downloaded on demand from a public file host ([GitHub Releases URL]). These are anonymous downloads of public data files; no information about you is sent.
We do not operate a backend server for this app and receive no data from it.
Data sharing and sale
We do not share or sell any personal data. There are no third-party advertising or analytics partners in the app.
Data retention and deletion
All app data lives on your device. You can delete any hike (and its media) from within the app, or remove all data by uninstalling the app or using Android’s Settings → Apps → Momera.Hiking → Storage → Clear storage.
Permissions
The app requests: location (including background location), camera, microphone, physical activity (step counter), notifications, and internet access. Each is used only for the purposes described above. You can revoke any permission in Android Settings; some features will stop working without them.
Children
The app is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect data from them.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy; the “Last updated” date above will change. Material changes will be reflected in the app’s listing.
